Heirloom Tomato Salad

Hello Farmers Market, Hello Heirloom Tomatoes! You cannot make a trip to the farmers market this Summer without giving in to the ugly-beauty that is the Heirloom Tomato (sometimes called Heritage Tomatoes in the UK). They really are an extraordinary cultivation. Enormous, surprising and ridiculously expensive, they appear towards the end of the summer as a specialty food in the markets and supermarkets. You really have to try an Heirloom tomato to be convinced however, as one large tomato can set you back as much as $10. It seems extravagant for a tomato no? But they taste so extraordinary, it's worth every penny. Our trip to the market one Saturday rewarded us with runner beans, heirloom tomatoes, basil and a life-changing melon! This was truly one of the most delicious meals I ate all Summer and it's ingredients were so simple. I added salt, pepper, white balsamic vinegar and olive oil to the tomatoes and simply marveled.
