Wool and the Gang
Sunday, March 28, 2010 at 12:17PM Achingly cool knitting brand 'Wool and the Gang' opened their store in Soho NY approximately 6 months ago. It is moments from my office, so a purchase from their minimalist, yet cosy studio was inevitable. I chose the 'Snood Dogg' as my first project to knit as a birthday gift for my achingly cool Swedish friend Maja - she can pull off turquoise with aplomb. And so I began, with the 15 mm needles (!) and the peruvian wool... and finished about 4 hours later!! It was quick and easy, the instructions are great and the results almost instantaneous because of the size of the needles. I didn't enjoy knitting with needles this big however as at times it feels less like knitting and more like 80's aerobics (or a chicken impression!), but the results are so fun and quick, it'll be over before you know it. The packaging is striking and the concept and the design are executed brilliantly, but it is expensive for what it is. Achingly cool comes with a price.
