Christmas Pepparkaka

Christmas is my favourite time of year alongside Halloween and Easter. There are too many good things to list about Christmas to justify why it ranks so highly, but I'm going to give it a go with a few: Bad taste decorations, good taste decorations, all & any decorations, giving, eating, drinking, receiving, making, baking, shaking (it)...

It's a good start and end to any year.

Pepparkaka is a type of Swedish cookie usually made over the Winter season. It's a thin ginger biscuit wonderfully moorish and perfect paired with mulled wine.

Here are some of the uses for pepparkaka that I came up with, any excuse to make another batch.

I took my recipe from the ICA Sju Sorter Kakor cookbook (translation: seven types of cookies). Its a cult bible of Swedish cakes and cookies and I recommend it highly to anyone interested in gaining a few pounds.

Jingle Bells.

The (well used) Recipe (I omit the orange peel as I have yet to find it on sale anywhere!)

Baked as a gift for my sister and her dog, Daisy.

Decorated with Icing for work

With some serious blue cheese, the way my mother-in-law likes them

As Christmas Decorations for my tree
