Tree Decorations

Decorating the tree is something I start looking forward to on the first cold day of Fall. I try to remember what's hiding in the decorating box and start to keep my eyes open for new additions to the family. Red and white has long been my theme colours and as the years have gone by, I lean more and more towards a simple Scandinavian style of decorating. Gingerbread cookie decorations, painted wooden hearts, real peppermint candy canes, glass toadstools and wooden toys are the kind of thing I like best and that make me think of "It's A Wonderful Life"! This year's tree was bought on 7th Ave from the French Canadians who sleep in the van for a month selling trees. Poor things! We take them apple cider and cookies to keep them warm :) A beautiful big tree, I'm always grateful to have such a beautiful thing in my home, reminding us to savour every moment of this time of year.
